Get ready to step into a world of holiday fun, creativity, and sweets!
In this hands-on parent-and-child workshop, families can choose to decorate either a classic gingerbread house or a KitKat Holiday Cabin—with everything you need included. We’ll provide the houses, colourful candies, sprinkles, icing, and all the tools so you can focus on having fun and bringing your festive vision to life. Led by a registered dietitian and culinary expert, this workshop blends holiday creativity with a warm, family-focused experience. You’ll learn simple piping techniques, creative decorating ideas, and tips to make your gingerbread house or chocolate cabin truly shine. Each family will take home their very own holiday masterpiece to display (and enjoy!). Light refreshments will be served. Sip on hot chocolate or coffee and enjoy a snack while children are engaged in this activity. 📅 Date: December 13th, 2025

Simple Italian comfort food that’s also good for you! (AD) I’ve partnered with Egg Farmers of Ontario (@eggfarmersont) to share this healthy, Italian comfort food known as “piselli e uova” aka peas and eggs, that my grandmother used to make! It’s humble, cozy, and perfect for those nights when the fridge is looking a little bare but you still want something comforting and nourishing. November is also Diabetes Awareness Month, and this dish is diabetes-friendly. Protein-rich foods, such as eggs, can play an important role in regulating blood sugar levels. Plus, eggs contain many essential vitamins and minerals, including antioxidants such as lutein and zeaxanthin, which help reduce the risk of developing cataracts and other eye diseases. Studies have shown that in people with type 2 diabetes, those who ate one egg per day had better fasting blood sugar levels, with no changes in cholesterol levels. Peas have a low glycemic index, meaning they don’t cause quick rises in blood sugar – another reason to make this cozy dish! Ingredients:
2 tsp olive oil
½ of a small onion, finely chopped
1 cup frozen peas
2 eggs, beaten
2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
Directions: Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and sauté until they are soft. About 5-7 minutes. Add the peas and cook for another 3-4 minutes. Add the beaten eggs and, using a wooden spoon, stir them in so they scramble with the peas. When the eggs are almost set, add the Parmesan cheese and stir it in. Cook until the eggs have set. How many times have you heard a mom say or maybe you have said yourself, “I made breakfast or lunch for my kids, but nothing for myself”? This a reminder to prep something for yourself! Or something that you and your family will eat. As moms, we are always looking after our kids and so worried about what they eat, that we can forget about ourselves. I love baked oats and my son also likes this recipe (I think it’s his main form of vegetables lately) so I make it often for both of us! And while it may not be zucchini season, zucchini is always available and always affordable so I buy it almost every week. Banana Zucchini Baked Oatmeal:
1 ripe banana, mashed
1 small zucchini, grated
2 tbps brown sugar
1 ½ cups milk
1 egg
2 cups rolled oats
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ cup chopped walnuts Directions: Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Pour into a greased baking dish and bake at 400°F for about 30 minutes or until the oatmeal is set and liquid is absorbed. Perfect for national oatmeal day! Halloween is just one week away! Halloween spider sandwiches are a fun snack or lunch for little kids! My 5-year-old son is obsessed with them, I made them last year and he is asking for them again. I used a cookie cutter to make the body (or you can use a cup or lid) then spread peanut butter (use nut-free butter for a school-safe option) on one side and jam on the other. Baking in the air fryer saves time and gives these bars the perfect texture: lightly crispy on top with a soft, custard-like center They’re perfect for breakfast, a midday snack, or to satisfy those afternoon sweet cravings—especially with a warm latte or cup of tea. Give this healthier, higher fibre sweet treat a try today! Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups rolled oats
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice
2 tbsp chia or flax seeds
1 cup pumpkin puree
2 eggs
¼ cup brown sugar or maple syrup (both work equally well, use what you prefer and have on hand)
½ cup milk
¼ cup mini chocolate chips
Grease an air-fryer basket well. Add all the ingredients to it and mix well. Top with the mini chocolate chips. Air fry at 160°C (320°F) for 20-25 minutes until the oatmeal has set and the liquid has been absorbed. Slice into squares and enjoy.
